Hectic Day

Such a hectic day yesterday. As per normal I have 3 tutorials yesterday. The thing about teaching is that when the class is proactive and do their work, it's such a pleasure to teach them. And when they come up to you and say that they understand what you are going through in class, I feel really good. But for one of my classes yesterday, it was like everything that can go wrong went wrong. The class didn't do their tutorial despite me giving them like 5 questions to prepare. Only 5! Terrible. And they were super hyperactive! And if you have a headache it seriously kills you. Yupz, it was a difficult class to teach. But after that, the classes were good. Haha. So it made up for that terrible class. Haha.

I think many of them still don't understand what they are in for in a junior college. Haha. I shall see even more lost faces in class next week when the lectures go on full speed. Haha. Finish binomial theorem in 1 lecture, then recurring numbers in another 1 lecture... Haha. It will only get interesting. I'm not being sadistic here, but some of the kids really need a wake up call.

I was voicing out my opinion to Mrs Tag and Mrs Khet and they were saying that the level of math in Singapore is indeed dropping. Sounds cliche? It's not! Just take my classes as an example. Almost all of them got distinctions for both Math at O levels, but they can't simplify algebra properly. Haiz. Need to have lessons on algebra again? It's quite demoralising sometimes, especially when you sincerely want to teach them something, and they just can't be bothered. I guess I'm the only tutor in the school that bothers to go to every student to check that they got no problems with the tutorials and concepts. Mrs Tag was telling me not to bother re-teaching them algebra and stuff, coz it's assumed knowledge, and it's time that they become more independent and responsible for their own learning. That's part of growing up. I shall be optimistic and hope that one day my students will appreciate what I have done for them. Haha.

Ok having some free time yesterday morning, I asked Mrs Tag for some last minute crash course on interviews and she's sooo helpful to send me all her notes and powerpoint. I was supposed to attend an interview that afternoon for GEP, and I didn't do any preparation all thanks to all the marking and lessons I have to plan for. Anyway she's the higher education head, so yupz, all those notes came in as quite informative. It was really quite useful. That's the good thing about Mrs Tag being my neighbour in the staffroom. Haha. LOL. Anyway rushed off after a late lunch to NUS for the interview. My bro was kind enough to drive me all the way there, wait for me, then drive me back. =D Anyway the interview was alright. There were 3 professors interviewing me. I don't know how I fared, but what I can say is that I tried my best so it's up to them whether or not they want me. =D

After that went home, changed out of the stuffy office wear before going to meet up with CG00/10! Hahahah. That's the relief teacher's/interns gang. Haha. Yupz, met up for BBQ at Eugenia's condo at Bedok Reservoir. Had one of the most fun BBQ's there! It was really funny. Haven't had such a good laugh in eons! Laughed till me jaws and tummy feel like cramping. Haha. All the nonsense we did. If our students saw what we did, there goes the respect and status. Hahahaha. See, teachers have to let off steam once in a while. In school have to maintain a bit of image. Outside.. I don't care! Hahaha.
The Artist, Jiaying taking an artistic shot of the charcoal.. HAha
Camwhores~
Anyway thanks Ser Yang for ordering the food (although he ordered wayyyy to many chicken wings. LOL!), Eugenia for lending us her place, Matthew for cooking non-stop, and finally everyone from CG00/10 for turning up! Haha. Had a blast of a time. Sometimes I'm astounded by the wonders of randomness. Haha. CG00/10 started out randomly - all the reliefs and interns just starting through mass lunches and staffroom nonsense. Haha. Then one day, we randomly decided to have a BBQ before the A's is released. And although we all teach different subjects (totally.. We represent almost every department in the school! LOL!), we still managed to get along, and really fine! Haha. Randomness. Love it.  More of such gatherings anyone?

Anyway when I got home, I was sooo tired that after washing up, the moment I lie on my bed and shut my eyes, I fell asleep. It's that fast. Haha. Really long and hectic day. Was out for like 17hours yesterday. Terribly tiring.

Early morning today again, this time not coz of school, but for driving. I have been accustomed to waking up early already. Feels weird(but good) to wake up later than usual. Haha. Anyway had circuit again today. It was quite good actually. No major mistakes. TP test's on Tuesday. Really hope to pass it asap. I think driving lessons are getting a bit boring. Haha. And there are places that I want to drive to! Hahaha. LOL.

Later gonna go pick my parents up from the Airport. They have been gone for the past 12 days having the time of their life in Italy, France and Switzerland. I say it a million times but I'm still feeling sour about not being able to go! Hahaha. =X
