Today went back to TJC to visit my dear tutors! Haha. Fun fun. Haven't went back since A Levels results and have been feeling quite bad. Haha. Alright, 1st thing 1st. I don't like that security guard! What's wrong with visiting Teachers during CNY period!? Had to cook up some cock and bull story of having an appointment with Mrs Than just to get in. Oh and he didn't even know who she was at 1st. (She's the HOD of Arts loh!) Ok other than that it was pretty nice visit. Firstly, we went to walk around the school. It still gives me the nice homely feeling. Although there were some renovations to the place, it still makes me feel at home. So familiar environment. I love it there. I love my JC days. It was great. 1st went to find the noodle stall auntie. She's damn nice lah, treated me, vin and shan to prawn noodles. Haha. Back in those JC days, we used to patronise her stall like twice a day! Haha. Yupz quite nice food. Oh then Mrs Lim, the Vice Principal and my Maths tutor came by to eat as well. Haha. Had a small chat with her. Ok then proceeded on to the main objective for today. First went to call my CT and Chemistry tutor, Mrs Aileen Lim. Haha. She's ever so nice lah. Treated us to drinks at the canteen. Haha. Talked for quite a while. Haha. Nice to be able to keep up with the times.. Friends.. yupz good to know where they are now and how they're doing. Haha. Oh then she went off for lessons. Then so coinidentally, Mrs Than passed by! Ahha. Oh my, she's still that bimbotic! Haha. But in a very nice way. Haha. She's a magician! She made my E for Econs become an A! Magnificient. Haha. Then after that proceeded on to staff room where we FINALLY found Mr Desai! Haha. He had a really hard time finding him. Oh he's ever so bitchy. Haha. But once again, he's a great guy to talk to and a great teacher and motivator. Haiz. I miss my physics lessons. Oh and he say 01/06 is like the best class he every taught! Awww.. feel so honoured man! Haha. I guess class dynamics is more important than just smart people. Haha. And I really felt the class dynamics was really great in 01. Haha. I miss those days. Haiz.

Oh and Mrs Lim wants me back at tjc to teach! Wonderful. Haha. Quick I wanna ORD so I can start teaching!!! HAha

After that Shan went home to get collect her new hp, so me and vin went to Parkway to shop around. Haha. Supposed to go K de, but her hp nvr come on time so yupz, another time bahz. Haha.

Holidays Holidays Holidays..

I love them

Alright Mum just told me that there are alot of restrictions for this year's CNY for me. Grandpa just passed away last year, so for the next 2 years, CNY would be a quiet affair. Yupz, my family's pretty strict about following the 3 years rule. Oh and my parents can't give red packets too. Haven't had a really happy CNY in 4 years already. Bad things tend to happen near these supposedly auspicious periods. Haiz.

Anyways, because of this, I only can visit a few of my very close relatives. Morning my dad's brother and sister came over to visit. My house is like quite forbidden coz my grandpa used to live here with me. After that went to visit my maternal grandparents. I'm not supposed to, but my parents thought that it's only out of courtesy that we should. Haha. Ate lunch there. My grandma and aunt cooks really SPICY food. Choked like crazy man. Haha. Or rather I'm the lousiest chilli eater in my family. Haha. Anyways after that came home to rest a while before setting out to my grandaunts house. Once again, it's supposed to be forbidden, but since she was very close to my paternal grandma, so yea, courtesy was the excuse again. Haha. My parents decided not to tell her about the visit before we went there coz we knew that she would cook up a storm if we visited. U know the typical homely granny that is ever so hospitable and friendly. Haha. They are the people that make CNY what it should be. Oh coz her health ain't that good already, so not good to make her work so hard. Haha.

After that we decided to go my aunt's(my dad's sister's) house. Oh my. Haha. The house's damn nice, big and comfy. Haha. Oh and what happens if U put 5 guy cousins together? The alcohol comes out. Haha. Had like 2 types of beer and green tea sake. Haha. OMG I LOVE THE GREEN TEA SAKE! Haha. It's damn nice! AHha. I'm gonna get it soon. Omg i think I'm becoming an alcoholic. Haha. Ok then we had coffee. Haha. Oh and there's this damn nice expresso machine that produces great expresso! ahha. Had latte. It was great. Haha. Nice after quite some alcohol. Haha.

Alright, my 1st day of CNY has been pretty quiet but enjoyable. Haha. Oh did I mention that I can collect red packet but I just can't give. Haha. Lovely. Oh what the hell. Haha. I love my holidays. So much time to slack. Oh but then again, lots of prayers to do. Tomorrow got prayer at home. My great grandfather passed away on the 2nd day of CNY. I'm telling you, CNY ain't as auspicious as people put it - for me and my family at least. LOL. Anyways, mum and dad are leaving for Korea this friday! So envious. I can't go coz of NS! Damn sad can. I haven't been on a holiday in a long long time. (Other than Australia last year, butthen again, that ain't a holiday!) Haiz. I will definitely want to go for a holiday after I ORD! Oh my, I ORD THIS YEAR! Oh it feels just great! Haha. Alright. Enough of my rambling for today. Have fun and enjoy!

Chinese New Year's tomorrow! Looking forward to all the red packets and nice snacks! Oh and I haven't visited my maternal grandparents in a long time! Haha. Nice to be able to see them soon! Haha. Guess CNY's the time to meet up and catch up on times with relatives and friends. Haha. Everyone's busy with their own life, and it's nice to sit down once a year to just relax and chit-chat. Oh and let of steam. Haha. Economy's not going to be good this year, so I guess that topic for discussion would somehow revolve around that. Haha.

And as for my wishes for this new year?
1) Get my UK University application approved.
2) Get a scholarship.
3) Get a Driving License. (I only got AFV license! LOL)
4) Parents to retire ASAP and enjoy life.
5) O.R.D.! (14 December 2009)
6) Get a teaching job at TJC/TMS after ORD.
.
.
.

That should be about it. The dots are for me to fill up when I think about more things to achieve this year! So as for now, wishing everyone a Happy Lunar New Year! Hope that all your wishes and aspirations would be fulfilled!

This whole week in camp was crap. Alright, it was pretty slack but it's a total waste of time. Retarded. Anyways, PK got into a traffic accident on Thursady night, so yupz, platoon 1 operators and PC went to visit him at NUH yesterday before booking out. Ok, thank god that other than he's hand, which is fractured, he's pretty fine. 真是不幸中的大幸!Anyways hope he get well soon. This weekend's pretty short for me coz I've got live-firing tmr, so that means that I'm booking in tonight! Feeling quite sian. But on the brightside, I can collect more off-in-lieu! Haha.

Oh and I saw yanshan at Bedok MRT on the way home yesterday. So 巧. Haha.

Been thinking alot these days. (Which explains why I'm so quiet in camp these couple of days.. LOL) All my life, I've never actually considered the feelings of others. Make a realisation that life's not just about me. It does not revolve around me. Every decision I make tend to involve me and alot of people around me.. my family.. my friends.. As such, I've become pretty dependent on others. I don't know. I thought about it. Sometimes I feel compelled to do something, but I just can't convince myself if I should really go for it. For me, everytime before I make a decision, I would have a kind of debate in that little brain of mine. Put all the facts on the table and convince myself that what I'm doing makes perfect sense. Yes. PERFECT sense. I'm quite a perfectionist you see. If I can't straighten out my thoughts, then I would rather not do it. Escaping? Not really.. Scared? Not exactly.. I don't know. Maybe time would tell if I've made the right choice.

Haha. Today's another great day. Couldn't join 01 peeps for cycling in in afternoon. Had things on. So yea, late afternoon went to run with my dad again. Haha. Another good 10km. Haha. Nice. Ok after that my dad fetched me to meet a few of the 01 peeps for dinner at Parkway! Haha. Yes its the 1st time I've seen jocelyn, our dear doc, in a looonngg time. Haha. She's as FL_BBY as ever. (Hint: The _ is the 1st alphabet of the alphabetical series) Ok, she's gonna kill me if she sees this. Haha. Oh wells. Alright ate at Ajisen Ramen. Haha. Pretty nice. Ok then came dessert. Natha suggested this quite the ulu place at Marine Parade central. Haha. But as it turns out, the mango ice and all the ice shavings were pretty good! Haha. Yumz. Could eat all I wanted coz I just ran. Wahaha! Feels damn good. Last meal together before all of us return to our own lives.. S'porean guys all serving the nation, gals and our dear foreign talents back to the university. Haha. I, too, have to book in tmr le. Damn sian. Good thing's that I've spent my break pretty well. Haha. Could meet up with most of my friends. Haha. Got to time some precious times together and catch up on each other's lives. Aww.. it feels just great! Haha. Keep in touch guys!

Oh and I'm more or less set on going Imperial College London. Haha. Direct M.Eng in Chemical Engineering. Haha. Now to set my eyes on scholarships again. Scary but it's something new and worth trying. Haha. Life's too short for what-if's. At least I can say that I've tried. Jia You!

Just completed my personal statement. Trying to apply to get into Imperial College London. Haha. Direct Masters in Chemical Engineering in 4 years. Haha. Kewl. And I'm not alone. Vin's applying, Joe too. And Ming Wang is there. Haha. Now to get a referee's report from Mrs Lim (VP). Haha. Hope I get in. Then I will find a way through from there. =D

Goodbye 2008, Hello 2009!

Time really flies. Once again, another year has flew pass just like that. Time really waits for no man. This year has been quite monotonous actually. Enlisting into National Service haven't been such a good thing for me, other than helping me improve my fitness. Haha. But at every stage in life there are bound to be things that make life feel passable no matter how bad things actually are. And there are bound to be decisions made that change the course of my life. So lets start from the beginning.

Basic Military Training
It was pretty bad. All the tekan-ing and late book-outs - it destroyed my social life man. Haha. Made my life a living hell. Field camp, SITEST, PT.. soo torturous. I also made a choice then not to go command school. Haha. I just want to breeze through the army. Alright, but it's not that bad after all, probably due to the group of us, guys, that really supported each other in such times of crisis and trauma. Haha. Big thank you to my section-mates at BMTC1 'Z' Coy Plt4 Section 4. Haha. They really made my life soo much passable then. Oh and special thanks to my buddies Fahmi and Kah Fai then! Haha. Thanks so much for everything. =D

A levels results
The moment of truth. That single piece of paper (not even A4 sized!) can determine where one's life will head towards. The piece of paper that all JC student depend on. I could still vividly remember that very day. I rushed back from Tekong to TJC, thank goodness just on time. Haha. I was in No. 4! LOL. Alright, then they flashed the results on the screen.. 3A's.. 4A's.. 5A's.. 6A's.. Slides after slides flash across me but all without my name on it. I was really discouraged. But finally, a slide with my name flashed across the screen. 7A's! I was elated!

My Results

My Awards
Haha. It's like the best thing that has happened to me in my life. Haha. Called my family to inform them. It was some sort of happiness that I've never felt before. Things haven't been going on well the couple of months before. First was BMT.. then my Grandpa passed away. It was really a great relief for my family. I'm really grateful to the people that encouraged me and supported me all the way to make my achievement from a dream to reality..

My class! Love 01/06!

And the bunch of tutors in TJ that enriched my lives with such passion and enthusiasm. I owe my results to these people man!
General Paper - Mrs Bernice Yong, Ms Tan Chork Meng
Chinese - Mr Koh (Xiao Xu!)
Mathematics - Mrs Pang Lay Har(Now MJC VP), Mrs Lim Kia Huan (VP)
Physics - Mr Desai (Kudos to him. Physics became a breeze thanks to him!)
Chemistry - Mrs Aileen Lim (My CT! and dear gan ma!)
Biology - Ms Ng, Mrs Ng Chee Yen
Economics - Mrs Jagit Than (She made my E evolve into an A!)

Then came another decision I have to make - University. A levels gave meendless opportunities to pursue anything I want at various top universities in the world. Consulted various people, but I ended up choosing to study at NUS, pursuing 2 bachelors degrees in Chemical Engineering and Accountancy.

My Acceptance Letter from NUS

Chem. Eng. was something that I became passionate in in junior college. Mainly thanks to my chemistry and physics tutors. They were so passionate about their specialisations that it influenced me alot. I became very passionate about the environment and petroleum processing, hence, my core degree. Accountancy is something that I've never experienced before, but I wanted to experience something new. Haha. And it's a safety net. So why not? Haha.

Motorisation Support Unit
Ok, after BMT came unit. Haha. I got posted to Pasir Laba Camp to be an M113 operator. Haha. I can still remember the posting result. Haha. To be honest, I was quite afraid. Haha. I did not have any idea what it's like to drive an armoured vehicle. And the past experience at BMT did not help my pessimism. Alright, when I reported there, I was sooo happy to see a few people I know. Haha. At least I didn't feel that lost. Ok but before that, I was REALLY LOST. Haha. The camp was HUGE. I walked around, carrying my field pack, dragging my duffel bag.. It was torturous. Anyway, after I went to the unit, things was pretty good. People there are great, not soo much playing of rank, and the superiors are pretty good to us! Haha. I was so thankful of my vocation. I was initially from Support Platoon, but then I was shifted to Platoon 1. At first I felt really lost, coz I have to re-adapt again. But thank goodness the guys from platoon 1 were pretty accomodating and nice people. Adapted pretty quickly and yes, they are indeed a bunch of good people.

My Camp Pass

1st Motorisation Support Unit

Alright, the schedule was pretty tight though. First was driving phase. Then came all the outfields and exercises were extreme tortures. It tested my concentration and fitness. Haha. But I've got to admit, it was great fun! Haha. Thoroughly enjoyed myself throughout all these outfields. All the vehicle maintenance was dirty and messy, but I didn't mind! I had a really good time and sense of achievement after accomplishing somethings. Haha. Also got to interact alot with my Vehicle Commanders who are pretty good people. Kum Sin, Kai Hong, Zhi Sheng. And my Platoon Commanders Poh Chen Wei and Lim Wei Sheng.

Then came Exercise Wallaby 2008. It was my first exercise overseas. It was a experience of a life time. Although the training and exercises were tough, and the weather was VERY cold, I loved what I was doing there! The people, the environment, the culture, the work.. It was an experience that I would never exchange for with anything.

Exciting Ex. Wallaby Pics

Holiday Season
Alright. Thats about all for the more significant activities of the year. Then came December. The holiday season. The university kid's exams are also more or less done. Hence, I had the chance to spend precious time with my friends! Haha. All the K sessions, visits to the Zoo with 01 peeps, X'mas with TMS peeps, and finally New Year's Day Countdown with 01 peeps! All these become precious parts of my memory.

K sessions and outings

My first visit to the Zoo in a long time..

X'mas!

New Year's Day Countdown

I'm really thankful to be blessed with such good people around me.

2008 has been such a good year! Hope that things will only get better in 2009!
